A bit of magic with trees and wildlife on acre of land invite you to pause in time and space. Enough privacy and space for indoor and outdoor rejuvenation. Very quiet. A place apart while centrally located close to amenities and 3-15 minutes drive to hospitals and services you might want. Just minutes from dining, downtown, 20 miles of greenway, bicycling, parks, world-class trails in Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Appalachian Trail close by. Roanoke is an outdoor enthusiast dream with many outdoor opportunities within a short drive.
Located on quiet wooded land with quaint outdoor spaces for eating outside, reading, relaxing, listening to birds or observing the flowers and bees. In season, guests enjoy picking flowers and making bouquets or using fresh picked herbs to cook with. Restorative with airy windows to help you feel like you are almost living outside. Bedroom black out blinds for sleeping. Guests report that photos do not do the space justice.

The setting is ideal for business professionals working in the area, as a base for extended vacations/family visits or an outdoor enthusiast in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests have stayed here while doing medical and other resident/internship work. I have hosted students working on thesis, grandparents visiting adult children and grandchildren. Some have been searching for a new home or renovating a home. It is a great place to write the book or create the piece of art you have promised yourself and has been used as a place of retreat, respite and renewal. The property and neighborhood is quiet for reflection, studying, preparing for business meetings, private phone calls, etc.
There is a resident cat, Callie, who is quite independent and does love to be brushed. She is an indoor-outdoor cat, who does not have access to the bedroom areas and has her own cat door to come and go.
GUEST ROOM RENTAL: You will have access to most areas in the house except for the master bedroom, master bath and a few closets. You will have shared access to the gardens and grounds. The owner lives in the house and all outdoor space is shared.

If you rent the whole house for one or two people, the guest room allows an additional person or travel companion. Or the guest room becomes an office space or yoga/stretching room.
Whole house bedroom space can sleep two people sharing queen bed in master bedroom and one adult in guest room using twin trundle beds.
There is ample storage space for long-term stays.
There are 2 bathrooms: a master bathroom and a guest room bathroom.
Mattresses are less than 5 years old. There are lots of pillows to match your taste and fit.
The house is my home and is lived in; as with any home, it has quirks and personal touches/items. It sometimes needs maintenance or experiences a bit of temporary change. Please bear with me if that is the case while you are visiting. Unless I am traveling, I will be in and out around the property, in the art studio and sunroom during some daytime hours and at night while you are staying here.
There is a library of books, puzzles, games to borrow, if you choose. Wifi is included with Netflix, Prime Video and Apple TV available. There are small exercise weights, bands and other small items for stretching and fitness exercises. A yoga mat and pillow are available.
You can use my outdoor spaces and a little path in the woods for outdoor enjoyment of birds and nature! In season, you can pick and arrange a bouquet of flowers and greenery for your living area as well as use fresh herbs for cooking and eating. You can walk to Garst Mill Park where there is a creek, paved path, Pickleball Courts. There is easy access to the Greenway, Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail as well as Rt 419, Rt 581 and Interstate 81. The Greenway offers biking, walking, fishing and other outdoor activity to be enjoyed.
Airport is 8 miles. Major hospitals are from 2 to 6 miles away.
Virginia Tech is a 45-50 minute drive.
There is room for storing a bicycle or kayak.
Parking is in private driveway and on a designated area to the right just after you turn into the driveway.

Host is available and open to specific requests and welcomes helping make your stay work well for your time here. Problems and issues are usually resolvable, and making your host aware of needs or issues coming up usually have solutions that we can work together on. There are accessory dwellings on the property: a Cottage Suite and a Tiny Chocolate House. The long-term residents in these accessory units sometimes share outdoor space with the owner and guests staying in the home. These units are situated so that all of us have privacy and can choose to interact or not as desired. Below is a list of areas shared with owner and any guests living in the 2 accessory units or the main house on the acre of land.

Of Note: Public Transportation requires multiple buses and is not easy or simple in the area my home is located in. Amtrak and Roanoke Airport do come to the city and are within a 12-15 minute drive away. Uber and Cabs are available. Bicycling is possible with a bit of planning around trails, streets and highways.
