Look-Out Lodge on Lake Cumberland

Welcome to 2023 season at "Look-Out Lodge on Lake Cumberland" (LOL). This property boast a complete 230 degrees of unobstructed views of Lake Cumberland. LOL is a four story custom built log and stone home with a total of 5,275 sq. ft. of indoor living space and over 2,800 sq. ft. of wrap around porches on both the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is an additional court yard deck in the recreation room on the first floor for more outdoor space. This home has 5 spacious designer bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths with unobstructed views of Lake Cumberland from anywhere in the home or on the covered decks. This property has a Great Room with 27 foot floor to ceiling glass windows facing Lake Cumberland; 2 kitchens; 2 dinning rooms and another living room as well as a full recreation and game room on the 1st floor. Please note, the lake view is seasonal as the water level is dropped in the winter months by army corp of engineers.

The lodge is one of the few quality homes with an outdoor hot tub and outdoor fire pit.

As of December 2022 LOL is listed as the highest five star rated lodge on Lake Cumberland. We pride ourselves on being fresh and new, updating the lodge each year with new and innovative products, services and upgrades. For our returning guests you will find some great additions we made that we know you'll love.

LOL is a perfect get-away spot for groups and families. If you want to enjoy a very secluded but secure lake front vacation home, then LOL is the perfect place to visit. There is not another home anywhere in sight and there is little to no car traffic to speak of. Just the occasional turkey crossings. With only one other home in this beautifully landscaped retreat of 67 acres, you feel like you have your own estate as you enter into this private landscaped gated community. Let the kids go bike riding without supervision. There are great places to explore as well as all kinds of wildlife. Deer, turkey and more are abundant due to the lack of people and traffic. Feel free to bring your boats and trailers as you have unlimited parking available when you arrive.

You can access the lakeshore by taking the hillside stairs and a 5 minute walk to lake. LOL is located on a very steep bluff at over 425 feet above the lake. LOL is all about the views and beauty of the lake and the surrounding vistas. Each of the five bedrooms are individually decorated with a theme in mind. So pack your bags, your clothes along with your food & drinks.... because we supply everything else you will need for your stay at "Look-Out Lodge on Lake Cumberland". Oh yeah... and bring your tooth brush as well.

The nearest marina is "Lake Cumberland Marina" off of Hwy 1383 in Russell Springs. We are 1.5 miles away from this marina by water but 14 miles by road. We have a public boat ramp off of Hwy. 76 which is 12 miles away on Mill Hollow and is visible from our gated community.

Please remember that we have a limited of 12 persons in total for any rental period including ALL children, regardless of age. No pets of any kind are allowed including service and emotional support animals. These requirements are strictly enforced and may result in forfeiture of the $500 damage deposit.

Beautiful Blissful views surround. Large gameroom, books, hottub and porch rocking or hammock napping! They really have something for everyone. Property manager is charming and very informative. We loved our time at the lodge.

Great views... plenty of space
The location was great. The house was amazing in size. It was good for my family (my kids and grandkids). The amenities were good for all ages. There was a ping pong table, a pool table, fosse ball, ( there were darts but the darts were broken so we couldn't enjoy them), a hot tub and lots of great spaces to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful view. Randy was wonderful about communication. However, this is the first of many of my rentals (from Vrbo and Arbnb, and there are many) that there is a property manger that will meet you at the house. I appreciated the information on how everything operated, but I was a little surprised at the lack of friendliness of the manger, in comparison with the owner Randy. Randy was very friendly in his communications. A few improvements that I would suggest would be updated lighting (there were several bulbs out) and some of the beds were not so comfy ( I suppose my age may effect my opinion on that). Overall my family had a great time and I would rent it again..

Great stay for any occasion.
We booked it for a fishing trip with 7 guys in February. . More than enough beds for everyone. Amenities were excellent. Views were amazing. I can’t praise this place high enough. Had plenty of kitchen utensils to make any meals. Enjoyed the game room and played poker all night. No complaints whatsoever. Property manager readily available with any needs. Will definitely look to do a family outing in the summer here.

Everything about our stay was great as we expected with one problem. Bugs. A type of beetle infested the lodge. We would sweep and vacuum them up and next day there would be hundreds of them in every room. They were on the windows, floors, drapes, and even pillows. Unfortunately it freaked some guests out.

Great stay!
The house was so great for our 3 couple friends who we have been friends with since high school (43” years! Lots of room, great privacy! The views from all decks are amazing! Being able to rent the owners pontoon was great, it is a beautiful pontoon and fit 6 of us very comfortably. The hot tub was for sure a plus! Color was awesome! The house could use some maintenance and extra cleaning, but we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend staying there!

Great place!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Look-Out Lodge. Randy and Diane had all of the little extras that you hope for in a vacation rental, and even some things we were not expecting. The place was clean, and there was plenty of space for everyone in our group to either gather together or to separate for some solid reading time. We had a great time in a great place!

Beautiful home with beautiful views! Appreciated the holiday decor, as we had our Family Christmas there. Heating system doesn't manage zones well, basement w game room was always too cold. Kitchen could be better stocked, not enough glasses and frying pans were worn out. Cleaning crew needs to do a better job - behind the beds were quite a few months of dead bugs. Had some trouble finding it because Google maps led us to a dead end gravel road on the other side of the lake.

Not exactly lake view in the winter
While our 2 families had plenty of room at LOL, we didn’t exactly have a view of Lake Cumberland. Our view was of the muddy lake bottom because apparently the lake is drawn down in the winter. We also were told the week of our stay that we weren’t allowed to use the wood burning fireplace due to the owners allergies. Our main search filters included wood burning fireplace and lake/lake view. The property is a bit dated but well furnished. We enjoyed use of the Blackstone and the hot tub . The owners and property manager were both very responsive when we had problems with streaming the college bowl games. The property owner was also very nice to accommodate a late checkout when I asked for it and answered questions promptly. Overall we had a good stay but would have appreciated knowing before booking that the indoor wood burning fireplace is off limits and there’s no water in the lake since those were 2 of the filters we used while searching.

Thanksgiving 2022
Lookout Lodge was the perfect setting for our family Thanksgiving vacation. The property is beautiful and the views breathtaking. The house is well-appointed and offered everything needed to prepare and serve a wonderful Thanksgiving feast. All the younger folks enjoyed the trip down the steps to the lake, and although the water level was low, the sights were so unique and something special to behold. The hot tub and fire pit area provided a fun place to enjoy the cool evenings outdoors. Randy, the owner, was responsive and helpful throughout the booking process. If you are looking for a beautiful property in a serene location, this is it!

A Phenomenal Setting Amidst Beautiful Kentucky Countryside
A beautiful, spacious lodge with contemporary furnishings and phenomenal vistas. Even with 8 adults in our group, there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The navigation tips and restaurant recommendations were very helpful and help to make for a very memorable stay. The group is already looking forward to next year!

Super Family Getaway
We had been looking forward to our stay at Look Out Lodge as our first family vacation when the majority of our 11 kids and grandkids could attend and we were thrilled with the outcome. The owner gave us excellent detailed directions for getting to the house from the main road and these were most helpful. Tim, the property manager met us when we arrived, gave us info about the area, and promptly addressed an issue we had later during our stay. Look Out Lodge itself is a huge house with many modern conveniences( Wi-Fi, many tv’s, cable, streaming services, Keurig, air fryer, etc) but is also welcoming and homey with comfortable beds and furniture, and several outdoor furniture sets arranged around the fantastic wrap around decks. And the view of the lake is tremendous during the day, and so relaxing at sunset when you can watch the beautiful colors of the sky unfold and reflect in the water. We took home many wonderful memories from our stay. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Beautiful remote property.
Photos of property were very attractive and it seemed to fit our needs for beds, etc. Communication with owner was very quick, pleasant and timely during the rental process. He provided many detailed suggestions for activities in the area. Upon arrival it was as advertised, great views of the lake and lots of room to spread out, comfortable beds, clean and ready for us. Property manager was on site when we arrived and took us around pointing out items to be observant of. (We did recognize some construction was going on-a new patio was in the works and lots of materials were stacked about outside-we didn’t get notice of this construction in advance). However no building activity happened while we were there nor were the materials in our way). We didn’t spend a lot of time outside on the grounds except for enjoying the decks. It was a little more remote than we realized but owner had given us accurate time frames to get to various places. If you are looking for a great place to kick back this is it!

Perfect Family Get-Away
The house was huge, with 4 levels, and could not have been more perfect for our family of 12. Each couple had their own room, and plenty of space for the kiddos! The game room on the bottom level was very well appointed, especially for teenagers. The laundry room had 2 washers and 2 dryers! We had everything we needed, except you need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The kitchens (yes, there are 2) were supplied with all you needed for cooking, and had plenty of kitchen counter space. The views are AMAZING of Cumberland Lake. We recommend the Lookout Lodge to anyone wanting a beautiful peaceful home away from home!

Amazing getaway
The property has it all. My family and I enjoyed everything about the place. At night we would just sit outside around the fire pit then go down stairs and play pool, darts and foosball. The kitchen had all the amenities. Absolutely gorgeous house to enjoy Lake Cumberland.
