I would advise strongly against renting this home until the owner learns how to properly represent VRBO.
I am extremely disappointed say the least. My family and I stay at vrbo’s multiple times a month and have never once encountered so many issues.
The check in process was a complete joke! We tried for 10 hours to contact the person that we were told to contact for check in information with zero response. Finally, that individual informed us that she no longer manages that property for The owner. She gave me the owners contact info. For the next 2 hours we tried to reach him! Finally, when we were 5 min from the property, he called and gave us the check in codes. Zero apologies for the misinformation and lack of communication.
We arrived at the property and were immediately hit with the strong odor of dog urine. We were told this was a NO PET home. My kids have extreme pet allergies. This would have been a deal breaker had I known pets had been there. The odor was nauseating.
I walked up to the master bathroom and found pubic hairs all over the bathroom counter. The shower had a used, crusty washcloth with a used soap bar and more pubic hairs on it. Then to my horror i found a MASSIVE ball of hair next to the base of the toilet. YUCK!
At this point I knew I needed to check everything! Our master bed sheets were dirty and smelled like a stinky man had slept in them. There were no extra blankets in the home or pillows. The pillows on the master bed were so old, smelly and thin, we went and purchased new ones and left them there.
The guest bath was not much better. I had asked two months prior if there was an air mattress at this property. The owner confirmed he had a queen air mattress. We discovered after check in that there in fact was NOT. He had a neighbor bring one over that was far from acceptable. It was two very thin small twin mattresses joined by a piece of plastic. To make matters better, one side deflated in the middle of the night. We had to go out and buy one in the morning.
The owner told me he would reimburse me for the air mattress and $50 for a partial cleaning. He said he would send that on the 8th, it is now the 20th,it has not arrived. I reached out today and he said he hadn’t sent it but would tomorrow.
This experience had been jaw dropping start to finish! On a brighter note,he did respond today, 1/20/21 to the voicemail we left on 12/28 to see if we wanted to check in. Shaking my head. Do better!
