Modern Wisconsin Beach House on Brekke Lake

Enjoy this newly updated, fully furnished, two-bedroom heated lakefront home on Brekke Lake in Waupaca County, WI. This spacious upper level sleeps six with a master bedroom (king bed) and private bathroom, a guest bedroom (queen bed), and a brand new pull-out queen sofa in the living room. This beautiful country vacation getaway is surrounded by flower gardens, a large lawn, a private dock, and equipped with plenty of parking. Enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing on the calm, no-wake lake. Brekke Lake is a 46 acre and 25-foot deep lake. It is renowned for its crystal clear water and fantastic fishing of Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye. Ideal for paddle-boarding, kayaking (available), fishing, a cruise on a pontoon boat (public boat landing/private docking), or ice fishing in the winter. The shoreline has a solid sand-bottom great for swimming or a dock to lounge on or jump off of. We are conveniently located just two hours north of Milwaukee/Madison and 3.5 hours from either Chicago or Minneapolis. There is a fire pit ready for s'mores and relaxing, an outdoor eating area, and lawn chairs. Guest can access the balcony from both the master bedroom and the living room. This is the perfect getaway during any season.

Family Getaway
We very much enjoyed our stay. The lake was very quiet which allowed us to enjoy a loon on two occasions and a bald eagle fishing near us on several occasions. Kayaks were appreciated and there were plentiful smaller fish from the pier to keep everyone busy. The home was nicely decorated, kitchen was very well stocked (almost better than ours!), and almost everything we needed was supplied. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the lake. Thank you!

Perfection!
This place is so good. The house was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The lake is clear and quiet, perfect for swimming and fishing. We caught a lot of fish from the dock and out in the canoe. We saw deer, turtles, a woodchuck, and many different birds. There are a variety of outdoor seating options and a nice fire pit overlooking the lake. One of those places you want to tell people about but also kind of want to keep secret.

Beautiful lake view
We enjoyed the open living space and well stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable but the sleeper sofa was not! We all enjoyed the kayaks and canoe. Our grandsons loved fishing off the dock. The sunsets were amazing! A very wonderful, relaxing place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful and newly remodeled lake front cottage. We particularly enjoyed watching the sunsets over the lake. The host was always quick to respond to any questions we had. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful place amazing location
I grew up going to a small lake in Alban so decided to bring my family to this property/ lake in a nearby town and I’m so glad I did. We had an amazing time! The place was beautiful and stocked with everything you could possibly need. It’s super close to Iola which is the cutest little town with a great ice cream spot! Would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous retreat with everything you can imagine!
This property and home was perfect for our 23rd anniversary. A+++ for cleanliness and modern conveniences. The decor was beautiful and simply elegant. The kitchen was very well stocked with pans, utensils, dishes, and even spices. We fished right off the dock and caught blue gills, crappies and perch. The water was very clear which would be fabulous for swimming. We saw a blue heron, a bald eagle, blue jays, woodpeckers, and red squirrels. We’ve stayed in dozens of rentals, and this is our favorite! Chamomile was a gracious hostess and very responsive. We’d like to thank the Nusz family for sharing their slice of paradise. Don’t hesitate to book, this is a gem!

Private and Peaceful
Brekke Lake is beautiful, sandy and clear with easy, private access to the beach. The houses are not piled on top of each other with plenty of room for privacy. The cottage is more like a modern house that is newly remodeled, sparkling clean and located close enough to stores with plenty of fun shopping. Chamomile was always available by text and quickly responded to any question. We have family nearby so it’s a super place to stay again! The television has many options.

Perfect Getaway
This was one of our best VRBO experiences. It was perfect for our family of four. You can tell that the owners tried to think of all the little things to help make the experience what it was. Tupperware, paper towel, foil, beach towels, full stocked bathrooms with body wash/shampoo...these are just a few of the things that were provided that we have not been fortunate enough to have in the past. We spent most of the time fishing and swimming in the lake. We did bring our own kayaks, but there are some available for use. It was so quiet and peaceful, and we were often the only ones in the lake. Thank you for a great stay!

Love This Place
Lovely and quiet location with much wildlife provides a very relaxing getaway. The little people caught lots of tiny fish from the dock with bread crumbs and nets. The lake is perfect for kayaking, tubing, and paddle boards. We thoroughly enjoyed the large fire pit overlooking the water and the large back yard. The charming house is very clean and well stocked. This was our second family visit and we will definitely return.

Peaceful lake retreat
Our stay at the Red Fox Retreat was a welcome respite from living in the city. The house was clean, nicely laid out and located on a quiet lake. Preparing meals was a breeze with a well stocked kitchen (after a stop at the grocery store or farmers market, of course). Being fussy about our bed, we would definitely give a thumbs up on the king bed in the master. Lots of places to gather outside in the big backyard. Chamomile was just a quick text away and always responded promptly. The little town of Scandinavia is nearby with a stop at Scandihus a must for crepes, coffee and gifts. NOTE: the property listing does state not wheelchair accessible. I would also add that anyone with mobility issues might find the six stairs into the house and 16 stairs to the lake difficult to navigate.

Peaceful Lakeside Retreat
The rental was wonderful inside and out. Everything you could need and such a great set up and design. The house was super clean and Chamomile was great to work with. Such a quiet location on a sandy bottom, no wake lake. The only noisy neighbors were the red squirrels! Shopping and brew pubs nearby in case it rains. We will be back again in the future. We highly recommend this VRBO!

We were a bit disappointed this year to find the property not as clean as I expected. The floors were covered with some kind of grit and lots of dust bunnies. We had to vacuum the whole place before getting settled. There were some other people's swimsuits, towel etc. strewn down the steps from the deck. Also found socks under queen bed covered in dust. Some parts of the kitchen counters were sticky as was the table. Unfortunately, the floor in the master bath shower is so slippery that we barely avoided an accident. We all showered in the second bathroom. I love this place, the location, the quiet lake, the yard and pier area. We would love to come back again because of the setting. I hope these other things can be resolved. It seems like a fluke after the cleanliness we encountered last here at this place.

Welcoming Retreat
Lovely quiet lake property with ample space for campfires, fishing, swimming, kayaking, tubing—-all of the things that make a northern Wisconsin vacation so special. The renovated cottage is very clean and welcoming with many special touches and all of the necessities that made our stay easy and stress free.
