Welcome to Peace and Tranquility

Peace and Tranquility is a 2900 sq. ft. luxury lakefront log cabin perched high on nearly three acres overlooking lake Douglas and the Great Smoky Mountain landscape. This property was created to be the perfect lake hideaway for travelers from all across the country.

When you arrive at the cabin, you will be greeted by a very beautiful, comfortable covered front porch with rocking chairs and a swing. Take notice of the hand carved wooden animal accents incorporated into the woodwork of the log cabin itself.

Upon entering the home, the first thing that will catch your eye is the large stack stone fireplace located in the living room. This well appointed room greets you with the rustic wood planking, charming décor, and plenty of comfortable seating, all of which helps set the tone for the rest of the cabin. Looking across the open concept floor plan you will find a large dining room table which seats 8 with 4 additional bar stools at the kitchen bar. The fully equipped kitchen has all you need to prepare a wonderful meal or choose to grill out on one of the three expansive decks with unforgettable views of the lake below.

The cabin's 4 primary bedrooms all have comfy King size beds with spa-like lines and an en-suite bathroom for optimum privacy. The bottom level of this 3 story home also has a Room with a King Bed with a divider wall between the kid's area that boasts another two bunk beds with gaming area and tv. The cabin comfortably sleeps 16, enough room for the whole family!

Walk upstairs to the top level of the home to find a game room which overlooks the Living Room below. Here you will find a relaxing area with a full size pool table and a 55 smart flat screen streaming TV for cozy movie nights in or that big game! The full size sofa also makes a sleeper bed. Outside the sliding doors of this room, you will find the 3rd story deck that has some of the best lake and mountain views that are just phenomenal!

The cabin has all of the conveniences you would expect to find in a luxury cabin. Wi-Fi, Direct TV, washer and dryer, dishwasher, keyless entry, central heat and air, iron and ironing board, coffee maker, microwave, blender, vacuum and more!

Back outside take a hike down the gravel path to find a deck with a gazebo not far from the water's edge. Once there enjoy the private dock over the water. Easily launch all your water toys or gas up at the marina located only minutes away.

Wake up to the shimmering off the water, take a cool dip in the lake or fish the day away. At night stargaze from the private hot tub overlooking the evening lights of Dandridge or hang out by the fire pit under the stars. For those adventure seekers, Gatlinburg and Pigeon forge are only a short scenic drive away. Come for the weekend or stay a while in our lovingly curated cabin. Cute Cabin Overlooking Lake-BYO water
Cute log cabin vibe. Easy trek to Knoxville for a football game. Could comfortably sleep 14. The water in this area is incredibly sulphuric and has a very strong egg smell. We were not accustomed to that and needed bottled water to brush our teeth and drink. Other than that, a lovely place to stay.

Nice stay
The property was as described and perfect for our time there. There needs to be some deep cleaning done to get rid of cobwebs on light fixtures and such, but it was overall clean. The dishwasher had not been unloaded from previous tenants. King beds were very comfortable. Bunk beds were not. The downstairs area is pretty chilly. The only real complaint is the horrible sulfur smell in the water.

Dirty, inoperable technology and hot tub, poorly managed.
The cabin itself is well-built and in a beautiful area, but Douglas Lake Vacations has managed it very poorly. - Trash/litter around the property and dirty floors despite them “sending a cleaning crew” before we checked in. - Communication with management was unprofessional and unreliable. They were hard to reach at times, and emails regarding check-in had so many misspelled words and poor punctuation that I thought we had been scammed initially. - Speaker system was obsolete for current technology (you could only play music via legacy iPod or CD). Pool table is lopsided. - Live wasp nests on the back deck. Despite beautiful views of the lake and surrounding area, we would not stay here, or frankly anywhere managed by Douglas Lake Vacations, again.

We have rented cabins in the Gatlinburg area for over 20 years. The house keeping was not very good, Fritos all over the floor in the basement bedroom, the yard had not been mowed or trimmed in many weeks, a mattress and other junk beside the house. All of the silverware needed to be washed before use. And the large black spiders could carry you away inside and out. We did enjoy our stay at this cabin, it is in a beautiful setting. It just needs some attention to detail and bug spray.

The trail to the dock is no joke and house needed maintenance but a great view.
This property is not meant for anyone who really wants to utilize the dock or lake. The walk down to the dock was super steep and slippery with all of the gravel. Also to trail had a fair amount of trash on it. Once we got to the dock it was submerged in water (thigh high). The property manager was unaware of the condition of the dock and sent someone out the next day. However it was never repaired during our stay and no compensation was offered for the inconvenience. Our vacation was planned around the use of this dock. The house was ok. It seemed that the it was lacking in some maintenance. The gazebo down by the dock had a rotten floor. The house had many holes in the screened in porch, cabinets down stairs had broken hinges and front porch swing had 4 wasp nests in it. The listing showed and poll table and ping pong table as one of the amenities. The pill cues had no ends, the ping pong paddles were junk and there was not any ping pong balls. We purchased new pool cues ends and paddles and balls at our own expense. The property manager did drop off new pool cue ends and an empty tube of glue ( which did not help at all). The house also had some safety issues. The lower deck porch swing was connected with a dog chain that had been cut to allow it to fit over the hook in the ceiling. That swing broke with 2 adults sitting in it. To summarize, if you are old, have any health conditions or are not in shape you will not be able to go down to the dock or get back up the hill.

Don’t expect to get your deposit back
Two days after we checked out, the owner accused us of stealing throw blankets that didn’t even exist at the cabin at our time of stay. Also accused of a broken tv stand which we have pictures from inside the cabin where it was pretty much very intact. Don’t expect your deposit back because they will make up anything so you don’t get it. Also, I was messaged the day we checked in about how she was going to stop by with a grill, ummm what? Let us enjoy our 5 night stay without interruption of the owner. We got married on the property and upon arrival, there was a very old dirty king size mattress laying on in the yard that our wedding guests had to see. Quite trashy that they hire and pay cleaners but yet the outside of the cabin is trashed. Beware because on the rental agreement states that there are outside cameras on the property. I suggest snap photos of every single room of the place so you have proof against any allegations upon checkout. You won’t get the actual address to the cabin until 7 days before check in which made it difficult to wedding plan. The pastor then charged us an extra 400 dollars due to an extra hour of traveling. So be cautious, you won’t get your deposit back and you might have visitors while you’re there and although they charge you money if you leave trash behind, but they have the outside trashed with dirty old used mattresses AND you’ll be filmed when you’re enjoying your stay.

No Address at end of Driveway
There property did not have the number at the end of drive or on the door it had totally different one. We were trying to find it in the dark. We kept driving around looking for the number. It was not a good situation. 7 cars driving around on the curves and dips in the dark looking for a number that did not exist. We did not want to go up a lane that belong to some one else. We wasted at least half an hour looking. We could not get there earlier in the light because of events taking place that that we came down for. I called the number on the email I got and voice mail. they never called my phone back. I friend then called later she did talk to someone but by then we figured out it was the house we were renting and we got in. On Friday afternoon when we got back, inside part the frame and door in the basement bathroom was hanging away from the rest of the frame about a foot. Some of the guys got out their tools and made it workable. They said it was never finished completely You may want to check that out. The basement was very chilly. No heat down there. We put our trash in the containers outside that area needs cleaned up. The back deck on the main floor could use some cleaning we did not feel comfortable sitting out there. The house inside was very nice and clean. Plenty of pots and pans and dishes to cook with. We had plenty of hot water for showers, enough room for all of us.. Very peaceful. Over all we had great time there. Very nice property.

Perfect home for 5 couples
The drive from Georgia was smooth. The cabin was clean with everything in working condition. The host was very responsive once we booked. We didnt have to contact her for anything while we were there. All rooms had king beds with full baths. And two bunk beds for kids. Plenty of outdoor patio space and space inside to socialize. We will definitely book again.

Very easy to communicate with host. Cabin worked perfectly for ours needs. Plenty off beds and baths, good provided entertainment, great kitchen space, and a lovely view. The drive is about 20+ minutes to most things, but it's quite scenic. The yard is a little small for large yard games, and the trail to the gazebo/dock is very steep, but we made it work. Great rental overall.

spring break
the trip was great, the house was really nice, the beds were very comfy. there were 11 of us, and we all fit very comfy. the cleaning could have been better, but i blame that on the cleaning service not the owners. the screened in porch was great to hang out on, but the screens need to be fixed, as hornets were getting in. over all the trip and the house were great, we all had a lot of fun.

Hmmm…issues were not handled. Pretty bad since they EXPLICITLY say to do so, and to ask for refunds
When we arrived I did a walk through like the email instructs you to report any issues. Back porch cushions were torn up, literally like eaten by a dog, holes in the screen and exterior wall from a squirrel. No heat down stairs, couldn’t use that area because it was too cold, also the downstairs TVs are not connect to the cable and are not wifi capable so they couldn’t be used, the game system down stairs was in-operable aswell. The pool table couldn’t be used because NONE of the pool sticks had tips, the ping pong table that goes on top was also broken and needed to be tweaked in order to use it. The counters fridge and windows looked like they were cleaned with a dirty rang, terrible streaks. One of the down stairs bedrooms mirrors behind the door was filthy, looked like dog slobber/snot all over it. Water pressure is non-existent, the smell is horrible. The fridge light was out and missing lots of shelves. The trash bin outside had trash all over on the ground. These items were sent the day of arrival on Thursday, she replied back she would try to remedy the situation. I called repeatedly and left messages. As of that Tuesday there was still nothing taken care of, I called again and requested at least a space heater for downstairs and towels since we couldn’t wash the ones at the cabin, Melissa assured me it would be handled, that was about 9am. Again NOTHING… At almost 10pm on Tuesday we had a knock on the door, it was someone bringing us towels. We were already in bed!! The washing machine, we tried to use it since we were staying for 6 days, upon opening the lid we could see there may be an issue since the tub was way over on one side, only put in 2 pair of pants, it was so small, when it can to the rinse cycle it was bouncing through the door!!!

Good Time
The cabin was as described in the listing. It was very functional for our group. 2 bedrooms up stairs, 2 on main floor and 2 in basement. The cabin could definitely use a deep cleaning (cob webs, etc.). One of our main concerns was the basement was too cold to sleep comfortably. We had the heat on, but it never warmed up. Overall, It was a good stay, and would consider booking again if heating is no longer a problem.

Fantastic!!!
We stayed the week of Christmas with our entire family, and really enjoyed that everyone has their own private rooms with bathrooms! Everyone had their own space, and plenty of room, we did hike down to the lake, which was an adventure that only some could make, but we still had a great time hiking down and exploring the lake. Our only real complaint was the TV in the upstairs bedroom, it turned on, but had not direcTV remote so you could not use that TV. We did have to go into town and purchase a space heater for the basement kids room because we did experience extremely cold temps and it was to cold down there. All in all we had a large group of people and everyone in our group was extremely happy with the set-up and amount of space for everyone! We definitely want to return in the future, except in warmer months!!

Family Holiday Stay
The house is absolutely beautiful. It is well furnished, the decor is amazing, the beds are comfortable and large, it has plenty of bathrooms and space throughout. The property is simply a gem and you can tell the owners poured a lot of money and thought to make it feel warm and inviting. The only flaw which is not the owners fault, is the cleaning company. I suggest that as owners you demand to get what is being paid for. The ceiling fans had layers of dust and all of the furniture was filled with dust throughout. Also, the large bulk of trash to include the old mattress is there on the side of the house. However, these concerns did not take away for the amazing experience we had in your home. We never made it to the back where the lake was because I didn’t find it appropriate to go through the private property next door and through those steep rocks which seemed extremely dangerous. However, the amazing view was breathtaking and enough in itself. The jacuzzi we never used, but I would hear it running which would have have been a plus. We just never got around to it due to all the activities we had planned. Overall, your home is amazing and we thank you for allowing us to stay in it. I would definitely stay in it again. Thanksgiving
We all had a very enjoyable time. Got to do a lot of sightseeing. The lake water has receded so much, we didn't even attempt to go down to the dock. There were some things missing from the kitchen. There was no mixer or potato masher. You can't mash potatoes without one or the other. Otherwise our Thanksgiving dinner turned out great. We replaced the filter on the heat pump. It was very dirty, did not look like it had been changed in months. We had young children with us, some with allergies. The cabin could use a deep cleaning.

Hot tub didn’t work but that was looked at. The property could have been cleaner - there were chess pieces on floor under kitchen table - ping pong under rocker so didn’t look like floors had been swept good or bathroom floors mopped but they were picked up. Then the downstairs bedroom off the hall to the left TV didn’t work the entire stay and we replaced batteries in the remotes and those weee alk corroded and we cleaned them up - the remotes. But we loved our stay and would definitely stay again at this beautiful property.

Beautiful house but still disappointed
It really is a beautiful house with high quality finishes. However, we arrived and the cleaning person had left the house not only unfinished but literally left in the middle of cleaning... Trash bags in the living room, broom on the floor, etc. There was a hose in the hot tub spilling over to the deck below. She showed up a half hour later and finished. Biggest issue; the hot didn't work. When I reported it, I was told they knew about it and partts were ordered"... NOT GOOD. My guests and I were counting on the hot tub. It never did get fixed the whole week. I asked for a credit and got no answer. The TVs in the three lower bedrooms don't work. Another big disappointment. There were two coffee pots and neither worked. So the first morning there, we couldn't make coffee. NOT GOOD. They did bring a new coffee pot but we already went to the store and bought a new one. Finally, we were disappointed that the lake water level was lowered by 50' a month before we arrived. It ruined our view significantly. Again, the house is beautiful. However, like so many VRBO homes (I've rented many), no one checks the basics. It seems the owners have no idea what's going on and replies on the management company. They're almost always too busy to know about their properties. Thinking twice about ever doing it again. Again, with various emails, no response about making it right.
