Overall we loved the layout of the lodge, having a game room just off the lobby where the fireplace is, and a huge living space with executive table and chairs and a full kitchen. It was extemely helpful having a bonus refrigerator and freezer. The setup with 2 bathrooms downstairs with 4 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom upstairs with 3 bedrooms suited our group of 25 perfectly. The first day the kids played on a snowy hill behind the lodge, but the 2nd and 3rd day we drove to either Dinkey creek or Huntington Lake to find a better hill since the snow was melting quickly. Huntington Lake does not have a (working) gas station despite the signage, just fyi for other travelers. The lodge has gorgeous sunset views across the highway and really is perfectly situated for walking into Shaver Lake for monkey bread at the deli or for church at the chapel acorss the street. We even ventured into the library, which is just across from the cute chapel, and has a huge selection of free books. If younhave a large group, the lodge is perfectly appointed with comfy beds, plenty of rooms, and generous living spaces. The game room was a hit for all the kids and the adults. Every single room has a flat screen TV and at least 1 bed. Many have 2+ beds. I thought a sofa bed would have been appropriate in the game room. The accomodations were exactly as described and we enjoyed the lodge to the fullest. We appreciated Steve's hospitality, willingness for us to check in early, and the huge parking lot.
