Note: Our family lives in the suite downstairs. There's no cell reception at the house (available around 2 min drive away) but EXCELLENT WIFI. We would also appreciate not doing any parties at the house. Please also note that we added a security camera at the entrance to check for extra guests & pets. We're located in the beautiful Crescent Valley, BC. This quirky, fun, nature-loving rural community full of essential amenities is centrally located approximately a 25 min drive to either Nelson BC, Slocan BC, or Castlegar BC making it a great hub for exploring the Kootenay. If you're in for some outdoor water adventures, you can visit Endless Adventure Inc. It is approximately just 3 minutes across from Crescent Valley Beach. Endless Adventure offers river rafting tours, kayak adventure tours, and gentle cruise rafting tours & they have a fleet of paddle boards, kayaks, tubes, and RAFTS for rent. Crescent Valley Beach (approximately a 4-minute drive) is another great place to visit. In the summer months, visitors can expect Crescent Valley Beach to be lively and active with people kayaking, rafting, canoeing, swimming, picnicking, or simply enjoying the park’s natural environment. The park also provides important habitat for wildlife. The upland park area includes mature Ponderosa pine and black cottonwood, a valued habitat for species at risk. The property also serves to showcase the historic use of a former sawmill. Approximately 3 minutes away you'll find Crescent Valley Rail Trail. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 47 minutes to complete. This trail is great for cross-country skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Winter wouldn't be complete without going on a ski adventure! Two great places you can visit are Valhalla Powdercats & Baldface. You can expect a lot of ground-breaking adventure, exhilarating turns, and challenging terrain, all with the same good vibes and professional service. The Valhalla Range — with the same deep snow quality — offers a huge variety of high alpine terrain where you can expect consistent fall-line descents with big-mountain terrain features including chutes, cliffs, exposed lines, and just general gnar to take your riding to the next level! You can also find great ski resorts around the area. Red Mountain Ski Resort is approximately an hour's drive. RED Mountain is a place of powerful contrasts. The oldest resort in Western Canada & also the home of the most significant terrain expansion in the last decade. Proudly Canadian yet located only minutes over the USA border in the snowy Kootenay mountains. Guests love their unpretentious vibes and they also love the massive terrain—3,850 acres!— that puts us in the Top 10, size-wise, in North America. Whitewater Ski Resort is around a 30-minute drive. Get ready to recharge. Whitewater is all about the feels, offering the low-key vibes of community-driven mountain people without the distraction of wifi or cell service. Pure simple and real...DEEP. Whitewater Ski Resort is renowned for receiving a stoke-inducing 12+ meters (40 feet) of light, dry powder every season. Located 20 minutes outside of Nelson in the Selkirk Mountains, Whitewater's average temperature of -8 makes for ideal conditions whether you're hitting pillow lines or carving groomers. You can also find wedding venues around the area. A 5-min drive will bring you to The Ayrshire - a unique, historical, dairy barn available to rent for weddings and events. We're approximately 3 minutes away (by car) & 34 minutes away (if you prefer to walk) from FROG PEAK CAFE where you can enjoy a cozy café, eat yummy food, and admire the ever-changing local artwork on their walls. The Café sits comfortably on an acre full of gardens and beautiful trees. Best brunch in the Kootenays! (in my opinion) Just 500m away from the cafe is Tonik Distilling Ltd - amazing pizza & spirits tasting room. In the mood for some cooking or a taste of good food? You can find fresh organic ingredients in Evergreen Market & Kitchen. They've got everything everyone might need, from specialty Chinese, South-East Asian, and South Asian ingredients to standard Canadian kitchen fare.
