This beautifully restored historic home was comfortable, welcoming and had great beds and pillows…something I think is really important.
You’ll find a large dining room table with 6 chairs, several sitting rooms, a full bathroom up and down with lots of towels and washcloths and hand towels. A dishwasher, dishes, full refrigerator and range and adequate pans and silverware and glasses and cups were supplied along with dishwasher and dish soap. A washer and dryer were a big bonus along with detergent.
The small lacking items were shampoo, conditioner and soap in the showers. Had we known, we could have had some with us. Some of the rooms had night tables, some did not. A work table or space in the kitchen would have been helpful…we took the liberty to move the basement table to the kitchen for our stay. If you do not plan to prepare meals, it would be ok as the kitchen is.
The small things that were lacking were overwhelmed by the beauty of the old oak pocket doors, trim and floors, the awesome leaded crystal in the windows and doors and most importantly the location…you can walk the short block to the town of St. Marys and if you read and follow the historic walking tour provided you will have an even better appreciation of this home.
It is my understanding this home was saved from being torn down and we guests were happy the owners embraced this project.
When we return to St. Marys we will be pleased to stay in this home again
Thank you….Irene Glass
