Alpenglow Ranch, Telluride: 2 br / 2 ba Panoramic Views/ 12 Acres/ Pond

ALPENGLOW RANCH offers some of the most spectacular, jaw-dropping views in the entire Telluride region. This unique 'top of the world' location features 360 degree views from atop 12 acres with a pond. The spectacular San Juan Mountains surrounding Telluride viewed from inside or from the wrap-around flagstone terrace are always inspiring. Rarely is this level of view property made available for vacation rentals, throughout the United States, and virtually never at such reasonable prices.

Rates are based on double occupancy, (1 bed and 1 bath), additional fee for use of extra br and ba.

Alpenglow Ranch takes pride in using sustainable practices whenever possible.
* The house is passive and active, in-floor solar heated.
* Appliances are all energy efficient.
* We use low flow shower heads, LED lights and smart thermostats.
* Water is from a well, that is then vortex conditioned, so every cold water tap has some of the best water you've tasted, that is routinely tested.
* Finishes are mostly BioShield products, low VOC, healthy living paints and stains.
* Cleaners use sustainable and safe products, available to guests also.
* The bathrooms have refillable soap and shampoo containers.
* Reusable cleaning cloths are supplied.
* Recycling and composting are encouraged and made easy for guests.
* Reusable shopping bags are supplied.
* Snow plow runs on propane.

Inside Alpenglow ranch, the glassy Great Room was designed for comfort and views, and the kitchen is a joy for the chef to use. The single level design makes it easy to get around this spacious, comfortable 1200 sq ft country home

Watching the seasons go by your window is a constant pleasure, as well as the wildlife that is always around, sometimes even looking in the windows! You can expect to see Deer, Elk, Fox, Ermine, Rabbit, Hawk and Eagle, with Duck, Goose and Great Blue Heron hanging out in the pond. Topped off by the morning and evening alpenglow, this house is a wonderful place to observe nature at its most beautiful, in a private setting, just a short, beautiful drive from everything Telluride has to offer.
Throughout the spring and summer, you can see horses grazing in pastures below.

Throughout the house, on this sunny hilltop, and with infloor heating throughout, it's always cozy at Alpenglow Ranch!

Alpenglow Ranch is a Shared Space, the owner stays in an apartment in the back, with a separate entrance. The main part of the home is where guests stay, with use of the Great Room.

We look forward to being your hosts, and welcoming you personally to Telluride! You can count on a thoroughly unforgettable vacation experience.
Winter rates are more, to offset the cost and time of plowing the 1/2 mile long driveway. Since Alpenglow Ranch is 30 minutes away from the ski area, many some folks like to mix their days here by enjoying the winter weather in front of the fire on some days and skiing on the ski area on others. Also there is good cross country skiing right out the door.
I keep the driveway open every day, (with very few exceptions), with my own plow, but in blizzard conditions it can be challenging. I do have several backup plow drivers with larger plows or blowers who can get the road open, though there can be a short delay.

View and accommodations were exceptional. Host was like your favorite uncle. Host stayed out of site while we were there and went out of his way to make us feel like family. My daughter invited him to a surprise birthday dinner and he fit in like family. Definitely rent a Subaru from flower Subaru next to the airport. Shop for food before you check in. Kitchen is very well equipped. Make sure you have the correct address in your GPS.

Great place to stay!
The view from the property is breathtaking and well worth the price! The house is uniquely designed and quite interesting. It is very quiet and we even saw some wildlife despite it being winter. The only surprise was that our GPS took us to the wrong property initially! Be sure to go UP the hill!

Beautiful Panoramic Views!
I love mountains, and I love fall leaves, so when I saw this listing, I jumped at the chance to book it for the first week in October. It didn't disappoint. Quite the opposite, actually. It was magnificent! And we could see it as the sun rose in the morning until it set at night. Then the stars and milky way came out to play. Add the birds, bugling elk, and a small herd of deer that wandered around the property, and it was absolutely picturesque! The property itself, about a 25 minute drive from Telluride, was quite cozy and unique, built by the owner over a matter of decades. I loved being able to cook in the kitchen, and the cast iron/enamel pans and a gas stove were a very nice perk (regular pans are also available). The beds had a memory foam topper and I believe were full size, which could be small for some couples, but that was ok with us. The futon and couch can be used as extra sleeping space if needed. There was a large ceiling fan in the main room as well as a couple small portable fans, which were nice to have for white noise and added air circulation if desired. Extra blankets and pillows were also available. In addition, our host was very friendly, promptly worked with a request we made, knew a lot about the animals and birds in the area, and to my husbands delight, was able to tell us about the many different mountain peaks in view. We would love to stay here again if we ever get the chance.

Most Amazing Views!
The views from John's place cannot be beat. We felt like we were staying in a high mountain hut. We never turned on the TV, because we were mesmerized by the landscape in front of us. It was such a treat to watch the wildlife, too. John is a wonderful soul and super gracious host. Please note that bedroom 1 and bathroom 1 on the listing is an extra charge on the core price - noted in the description. Core price includes bedroom 2 and bathroom 2. John's apartment is attached to the main living area by an internal door. He is super quiet. However, we were mindful that he could hear us in the main living area.

40th Anniversary
John greeted us when we arrived, and after giving us a walk through and explaining some things about the house, we never saw him again…even though he was on the other side of the house. Around 25 years ago, we drove the Alpine Loop for the first time and I’ve always dreamed of staying somewhere with those views…this was that place! The views are absolutely breathtaking!!! It was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. We did several scenic drives: Last Dollar Rd, Ouray to Silverton, Woods Lake, and the Unaweep Tabegauche Scenic Byweep to name a few. One of our favorite things was sitting on the couch at night and watching the stars come out. We would definitely stay here again!!!

We were delighted with our host, attentive to our every need. The house is lovely and cozy, and the view is jaw dropping. The kitchen is well appointed. I made a blackberry cobbler while there. We also drove into Telluride and had a great time skiing! We may go back in summer/fall to go mushrooming!

Apenglow Ranch is Magical
The Apenglow Ranch is special in so many ways. The home has an epic view surrounded by beautiful mountains. In our case we some amazing wildlife, a beautiful snowscape and stunning sunsets. We saw a heard of over a hundred majestic elk pass through the property. The home has heated floors, a wonderful book and movie collection. Everything in the home is comfortable and it is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The Apenglow Ranch also has some of the best water you can imagine and a lovely wood stove. John helped us get the lay of the land and we had an amazing time. Telluride is just a thirty minute scenic drive away. We had the best of Telluride and the best of nature & adventure. I love this place. And I think John made a small paradise that can be shared through VRBO. It's a gift to yourself to stay there that you will never forget.

Stunning Mountain Escape!
Our family loved this amazing property. The views are beyond amazing! The location is close (25 minutes) to Telluride and all of the activities, but secluded if you want to just stay at the property. We are big photographers and the images captured did not disappoint. We also were able to snowshoe on property and enjoy the wonderful Colorado outdoors. Kitchen is fabulous for cooking! John (the owner) is on site and available if you need anything. He greeted us upon arrival and was very attentive to snow removal, but then did not see him until we were leaving. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Your jaw drops...
....when you walk through the door and see 180 degrees of floor-to-ceiling glass framing breathtaking mountain scenery. It's the most beautiful room I've ever been in. John, the host, was friendly, informative, and helpful. The house is well-appointed and the kitchen has everything you need to cook. Load up on groceries before you come. The nearest markets are half an hour away in quaint Telluride. Only minor negatives are no a/c (got a little stuffy during the day), small queen-ish-sized beds, and the very rough mountain road to get there. If you're looking for a peaceful mountain getaway you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Retreat
I picked this home for a visit to Telluride, CO with two of my teen children. The home fit the description and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views from the family room were spectacular, the kitchen well appointed, the beds comfortable. We rented a small sedan and managed to drive it up the gravel roads to this house on a hill. This would only be an option in the summer; snowy seasons would probably require a vehicle with four wheel drive. The drive to Telluride was less than 30 minutes and a beautiful ride. We spent our days exploring many of the trails and towns within a two-hour drive of the home. Our host stayed on the property in a separate entrance and was out of sight unless we needed him. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic Visit to Alpenglow
Visited during the Bluegrass Festival. Alpenglow was the perfect place for us to relax and recharge. The property and its majestic views exceeded our expectations (Thank goodness we didn't stay crowded confines of Mountain Village). We only saw John at the property during our check-in & check-out. However, we caught up with him several times at the festival, and we entirely enjoyed his company & assistance navigating the festival. We could not have asked for a better host. Thank you, John for sharing your festival experience, local info, all of your fascinating stories, and especially your amazing home. We will always have the fondest of memories of this vacation.

Phenomenal place to stay minutes from Telluride
We were in Telluride for a week, and stayed here for the first five days before we moved into town to be part of a wedding. It was absolutely gorgeous- the views are unbelievable and I loved waking up each morning and watching the sun rise over the mountains. The house itself is very comfortable, and although we did not cook the kitchen made me WANT to stay in and cook. We did a lot of hiking and biking, and the location was within 20 minutes of all of our starting points and from Telluride. It really was not a problem because the drive was as beautiful as the place itself. We stayed in town the last three days, and I am so glad we had the experience at John's first. Telluride is adorable, but you really don't get a sense of the beauty and light when you are right in town ( and we had a great place with supposed views). John is very nice and extremely proud of his place. After a nice introduction to the property, he kept to himself and we did not see him until we left. Although the house is shared with him, you have no sense of another person being on the property since he is very private and off to the back. I'd love to come back and just bring a book and look at those views!

Simply a "Wow!" property—a very reasonably priced, "top of the world experience"
Alpenglow Ranch is simply a "Wow!" property--John's description (Owner) does not overstate the "top of the world experience" and stunning 360 degree panoramic views. You will be mesmerized for hours and days by the changing light on the mountain peaks and the weather changes far off in the distance. The degree of solitude is unparalleled--I don't think we ever saw another person for miles and we loved seeing rabbits and other wildlife across the vistas. The master bedroom is very comfortable and the claw bathtub feels luxurious. With the brilliant round house design, there is a stunning view from every room. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and we enjoyed cooking meals and dining on the solid hardwood table. We did make the drive to Telluride for skiing, daily, and it was just the right "get away from it all" distance and truly therapeutic to make the return drive back through the mountain passes and onto the mesas, to really feel "off the grid". The Wi-Fi was perfect which was critical in these days of remote work and staying in touch with others. John is extremely diligent in providing maintenance--keeping the long driveway/road open during snow, at all hours, of the day and night (solid 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle highly recommended) and even quickly changing a burned out light bulb over the kitchen island (that was the only maintenance issue encountered, in just under a week of stay). After John's arrival walk-thru, we never saw him again so rest assured that you will have the privacy that you desire. You will feel reassured that John is on the property in case anything is needed and for road maintenance. I can't imagine that there is a better view from a rental property offered anywhere in the U.S., at such a very reasonable price.

Words can't describe the beauty!
John has the perfect place to get away from it all. We wanted to find a place we could social distance but enjoy the outdoors. We stayed here at the end of September and the view of the Aspens was beyond words. Most people are driving around for scenic lookouts to get the perfect shots but all you had to do here was step out the backdoor or lounge on the couch with the panoramic views. We sat on the patio for hours watching the wind blow the Aspen leaves, birds flying, chipmunks scurrying and and the famous Coors mountain. Inside the house is filled with many beautiful and unusual plants. In the evening the sunsets illuminated the eastern mountain range. The best part was the large tub with a view of the sunset. We stayed for 3 nights and didn't leave to go anywhere. There is a road (Wilson Mesa Ranch Circle) we took a walk along. The Aspen's were everywhere, many places to stop and take pictures. John had the house stocked with everything you could need. He was a great host and took all COVID precautions throughout our stay. Perfect place to get away from it all and reenergize!
