Pros: The home is located away from neighbors in a very quiet, natural desert setting, and it was the perfect location for driving into Big Bend National Park each day. We loved being outside for phenomenal stargazing each night, and seeing quail, bunnies, and even javelina by the house. We were there during a very hot time, but the air conditioners worked great and kept us comfortable. Our family of 7 had plenty of space to eat in the kitchen and to hang out in the living room. Our hosts were available by text and very easy to communicate with.
Cons: I am guessing that the guests before us were messy. The very first dish we pulled out had food stuck to it - so we felt like we needed to wash dishes before and after we used them. The previous guests may have also left the doors open, because after dark we became aware that the house was full of bugs -- primarily moths, though we also removed at least five good sized spiders and a solpugid. We also found some mantises, a very cute katydid, and a scorpion. It was probably due to people before us leaving the door open, but we also saw that the back door had a gap when closed that would allow small critters to crawl in. We stuffed a dish towel in the gap, and there were fewer bugs each night. In the end, it worked out fine for us, but if sharing the home with some small outdoor friends is a deal breaker for you, this place may not be a good fit (at least until the owners get a new back door or seal the one they have). I will note that the windows seemed to be great quality and the front door was being replaced right after our visit.
