Experience awe-inspiring modern architecture and cozy comfort in the atmospheric setting of the Boreal forest in our off-grid, solar-powered, pet- and family-friendly a-frame cabins.
The striking Fern cabin, with its floor to ceiling window in front, has a sleek a black steel exterior, a steep and dramatic a-frame pitch, surrounded by towering trees on 160 acres of private land at Glamp Good. Outside, its large cedar deck features a fire table with removable table top to use for dining, 4 Adirondack chairs, a live edge bar table with 2 stools and a propane camping stove to cook on.
The Fern's smooth wood interior is 270 sq. ft., including the main floor and upper loft with fold-away ladder access. The upper loft is a space to unwind with books and take in the breathtaking forest views through its floor to ceiling window (not for sleeping as per building code). The open-concept main floor features a propane fireplace, tables and chairs, one resort-quality queen bed (bedding provided), one pull-out couch (queen equivalent), a countertop and a camping dishwashing basin. Guests have full access to an outhouse steps away from the cabin, our luxurious off-grid showerhouse and second outhouse at the main glamping area.
Sleeping arrangements
The main floor of the cabin is designated for sleeping 4 people (queen bed + queen pullout). The loft is for day use and lounging, as it does not meet egress requirements for sleeping. We supply all bedding for the queen bed. If your group is more than 2 people, you will need to bring pillows and a blanket for the pullout couch (sheet provided).
Shared amenities
At the main glamping site, there is also a shared wood-burning Nordic sauna, a heated off-grid shower house with on-demand hot water and a composting toilet, a second composting toilet outhouse, a heated gazebo to cook and eat in with an egg chair, picnic table, commercial-grade patio heater, LED lights, BBQ and propane range and winter canvas walls. Our new cookhouse is a fantastic space to make meals together with lots of seating and counter space, an off-grid sink, prep space, a BBQ, a propane range and a pizza oven.
Please note: We currently have 3 geodomes on our property (and 1 seasonal treehouse cocoon open in summer). The cabins are located approx. 200 ft away from the geodomes, so there may be other glampers, pets and/or owners on the property during your stay.
This off-grid stay has basic solar power to charge your cell phone and laptop, but does not have high-wattage electricity or running water. Glamping is very much like camping in the sense that it is an outdoor experience - camping knowledge and essentials are required. Bring your own shower water jug (4L recommended), drinking water and camping food. If you're using the futon, please bring your own bedding. All bedding is provided for the queen bed.
Privacy: This off-grid cabin is complete with a commercial-grade tempered glass door that locks and curtains over the main doors.
On-site shower (200ft away from cabin): The heated shower house features a luxurious Moroccan plaster shower, on-demand hot water heater (bring your own water, 4L jug recommended), hand washing station and composting toilet. The outhouse features a composting toilet (instructions provided) and a foot-pump hand washing station with soap (spring/summer/fall).
Before booking: Please ensure you reflect the correct number of guests, children, infants and pets in your booking. Know that experience with operating propane appliances (and possibly changing propane tanks) is required to undertake this stay.
Rules:
Nordic sauna:
This is a communal amenity, shared amongst all guests. The sauna is wood heated. You will need to bring your own firewood to heat the sauna, and an axe to cut your wood. **Experience in creating and managing safe wood fires is required to use the sauna.** Guests must follow all warnings and rules, or they will be asked to leave the property immediately.
Fireplace & stoves:
Using a camping stove in an enclosed place can cause Carbon Monoxide (CO) to enter the air. This is dangerous and accordingly there is no cooking allowed inside the cabins! Also please note, the propane fireplace is extremely hot and leaving any items around or on it will cause damage.
Pet rules:
Pets must be kept on leash and tied up during your stay. No pets to be let off leash on the property. Clean up after your pets (pick up poop), and do not allow your pets to go on the bed or furniture. If there is damage caused by your pet, it will be an additional fee.
Never leave your pet unattended in our cabins or in your vehicle on our property. This may result in you being asked to leave the property immediately. If your pet is crate trained, you may bring your crate and leave your pet inside the cabin alone.
Cleaning duties:
Please note we don't charge a cleaning fee. All guests are required to complete light cleaning such as changing the bedding, sweeping, sanitizing surfaces, changing and taking garbage with them when they depart, closing windows and turning off propane.
Failure to complete your cleaning duties will result in you being charged a cleaning fee.
People on property: Please be aware that there may be other glampers, pets and/or the property owners present during your stay. Reservations must be a max of 4 guests and no other people are allowed on the property during your stay.
Acceptable noise levels: Please be aware of and mindful of other glampers' experiences and keep your voice, music and general noise level to no higher than you would in a restaurant for example. We have rural neighbours and ask that you respect our community by observing a 10pm-8am quiet time. This is NOT a party place and disrespectful or rude behaviour/language directed at the owners or other guests will not be tolerated, you will be asked to leave with no refund. Also, please mind your children while they play on the property and ensure they respect the shared amenities.
Cancellations: Please see our cancellation policy and note a 3% nonrefundable transaction fee.
Extreme wind policy:
**The risk of trees falling due to high wind speeds is a risk in any and every naturally wooded/wilderness environment.**
Glamp Good considers winds over 55 kilometres per hour to be a potential safety threat to people, structures and personal items, as live tree falling may occur within this wilderness setting. Glamp Good monitors wind speeds daily, and in addition to any wind warnings/evacuation requests we send, we expect guests to also monitor wind weather conditions and protect their own personal safety. Based on environmental data, wind speeds of this rate occur in the area at an average rate of 5 to 6 days per year.
Guests must practice proactive wilderness safety and remain vigilant and aware of wind risks within the surrounding environment - in addition to our wind policy outlined above, guests must use their own judgement in any wind-related circumstances they find themselves in. If guests are uncomfortable with the wind speeds, we ask that they leave the property.
Guests are responsible for their own personal safety.
