Situated in the beautiful countryside with views over the vines and sunflower fields, this old Hunting Lodge has recently undergone an extensive renovation and is perfectly located for a peaceful holiday whilst still offering a wealth of reachable amenities in every direction.
All the bedrooms are spacious with their own bathrooms. Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor, and the two first floor suites offer dressing areas and one contains a day bed for an additional younger child. The sociable central kitchen is well equipped for all your catering needs, and the double doors lead out to a shaded dining terrace overlooking the orchard and fields beyond. There is the added bonus of an outside kitchen with another al fresco dining area beside the swimming pool. With over two acres of gardens there is plenty of space for outdoor games, and also perfect to find a quiet shaded spot to read. Guests will also have use of a private on site gym, and for the cycling and walking enthusiasts there are an amazing choice of stunning routes for miles in any direction.
There are a couple of local restaurants within a few minutes drive of the gite, and the new artisan boulangerie is a walk across the fields.
Baignes is less than a 10 minute drive with a pretty town square, a bar, crepperie, pizza takeaway and a couple of restaurants, plus a supermarket.
Visit the pretty thermal spa town of Jonzac (15 min drive) with choice of restaurants, shops, supermarkets and local market. Les Antilles will keep any children entertained with an adventure play ground, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and water park.
Montendre is also an easy 15 minute drive with a 9-hole golf course, and during the summer a weekly night market. There is also a beach lake with swimming pool and play areas, paddle boards, canoeing and fishing. The nearby Mysterra centre is a collection of mazes and trails for all the family to enjoy.
Cognac, St Emillion and Bordeaux make for a lovely scenic drive and a day out to exercise your taste buds, and explore further afield.
If you fancy a day one of the beautiful Atalantic beaches then Royan is about an hour’s drive, La Rochelle 1 hour 30 mins, and a bit further for Arcachon with the Dune de Pilat, the largest sand dune in Europe.
Bordeaux Airport is approximately 1 hour's drive, and La Rochelle 1 hour and 30 minutes
