This is a quintessential Maine lakeside camp which is exactly what the three of us were looking for. No big screen TV here. A priority was an easy in/out access for kayaks and paddle boards. The narrow beach could not have been better. We found the camp to be very comfortable (beds and linens) and accommodating (bring a hairdryer). During our 4 day stay we encountered swans, eagles, cormorants, ospreys, loons, a mama duck and ducklings, great blue herons, turtles, fish and even had a rainbow. I recommend bringing binoculars. There are kayaks with life jackets and various water floaties in the garage for guest perusal which is not mentioned in the listing. The location is perfect for sampling restaurants in Augusta for dinner and a day trip to Belfast. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit the lake was having an algal (algae) bloom which made the water cloudy green. This had no influence on our multiple paddles around the lake, but was not conducive to going for a swim. A few suggestions for the owners would be a bit more attention to cleaning. Some of the window sills had numerous dead bugs and the glass door to the porch was obviously visited by a dog with a wet nose :) A nice touch would be the addition of a guest book where visitors could write the wildlife they encountered and where. Guests could also suggest restaurants and day trips for future visitors. Daniel stopped by to see how we were doing and even mailed some forgotten items at no charge. All in all, we would definitely stay here again.
