On Monday morning we were awakened by the house shaking from the construction next door . At first I thought it was a quake. The pounding and deafening sounds continued all weeklong from 730 AM to 4 PM on Friday.
Having thought I did my due diligence , I had read all the reviews, and indeed one from last summer wrote about the construction., along with other positive reviews. I wrote to the manager asking whether this was still a problem. He wrote back the next day, saying he had called the town supervisor and found "that the construction was completed and all that's left is electrical work, which should not interfere with our vacation". That reassured me enough to book.
When I first called the manager on Monday , he returned the call hours later, saying that he is only there for emergencies. Nevertheless, he gave me the owners phone number.
The owners response to my call was dismissive, hostile, and he seemed more annoyed than anything. I had asked him to kindly refund half of our money even though it was only day 2 of our 7 nights away, because I knew the conditions were such that it was difficult to relax, or even use the backyard as the noise level was way too loud. I wanted to try and move to any hotel at this point. He declined my request. And VRBO also was not much help.
I thought it fair to write this and forewarn any future renters . I spoke to the town and they said the construction could go on for the rest of this summer, and there is no reason they would end the construction until it was complete. I posted a video on YouTube. https you t u. be / i l 9 G -u e f X u4. Sorry, VRBO didn't want a link posted, so I broke up the link hoping that the logarithm possibly don't recognize it as a link. Just eliminate any spaces, add the : / / after the http, and then leave the periods and dashes . Turn up your volume and you will hear the noises we heard.
