1812 Pierce House is a spacious home on the National Register of Historic Places. Large fully equipped kitchen w/ big island & 3 ovens. 5 BR's, TV room, Formal LR w/fireplace, Formal DR. 1 tub, 2 showers & 1 half bath (3 Bathrooms total). Large yard w/firepit. Original windows, trim and floors. If you like perfection & new things, we think a hotel is a better fit. Many fans but no air conditioning (this is Maine, after all). Ours is a family home with personal belongings in some of the rooms.
The space
Historic charm meets modern convenience. Many original details with upgraded systems. A kitchen with nearly every tool you can imagine with a large island. Our pantry is stocked with all the dry goods you might need for cooking. We have glassware, china, tableware, and silverware, along with a large variety of serving platters, dishes, and bowls. The formal dining room is a great place for dinners, with a historic table that seats 10 or more. The dining room and formal living room with original fireplace are separated by a set of gorgeous pocket doors, which gives you a large open inside space.
There is one bathroom with a full bath, one with a shower, and one-half bath (three bathrooms total). The hot water is on-demand so you will never run out! 7 separate sleeping areas on the first and second floor can accommodate up to 16.
The large yard has a fire pit with plenty of outdoor furniture to socialize outside. We also have a lobster cooker and grill for all your BBQ needs. Quiet Hours in our village are from 10 PM to 7 AM.
Please note - while we and many of our guests appreciate the historic charm of the house, if you prefer perfectly modern things, straight walls, and things to be perfect, we recommend that you stay in a hotel. This home is not without its quirks because it’s over 200 years old. :-). It's also a lived-in family home, you will find family pictures and personal belongings in some of the rooms. You may even come across a spare lego or two (no matter how we try we can't seem to ever get all the little buggers, apparently they multiply on their own.)
Guest access
The whole property. The entire home, large 1.75 acre yard, firepit, grilling area, plenty of outside seating.
Other things to note
Quiet Hours in our village are 10 PM to 7 AM. Please be respectful of the neighborhood when spending time outside and playing music. The 3rd floor contains the attic and personal belongings, so it is off-limits. Other than that, we hope you enjoy and respect the character and history of the home and village area.
We know everyone likes things a certain way, and we aim to please. However, please do not move large pieces of furniture - couches, tables, etc. Many of our pieces are antique and can easily be damaged by moving them improperly. Moving large furniture also causes scratches and dings on the original wood floors and trim work. Any large pieces of furniture that needs to be moved back will incur a $100, per piece, moving fee. Scratches in trim, floors, or on the furniture will be charged against the security deposit at a rate of $75 per hour to repair.
Mattresses not on box springs may be moved around as best fits your group’s needs. Of course, dining room and smaller chairs may be moved as well to accommodate your group. Please put all the bedroom furniture back where you found it.
Thank you for respecting our antiques - they greatly appreciate a gentle touch.
