We ended up doing a last minute booking the day before our trip. Another booked tour cancelled the day before. Despite the somewhat short notice, the tour company was very responsive and ensured we had all the info needed to have a great day. The views of the pyramids and them hundred other hot air balloons was unforgettable and will recommend it to any friends/family visiting CDMX

We were picked up at our hotel at 5:20am by Eduardo who is a very good driver and had bottled water ready. As we were heading to the site we did see the sunrise so I was a little disappointed we weren’t up in the sky but they also explained the wind wasn’t in our favour so although it was good to go up we wouldn’t be going over the pyramids. This was the same for all hot air balloons - there were about 15-20 going up from different areas. There were maybe 10 people per balloon but didn’t feel crowded. I’m not amazing with heights, but we got in to the basket (you have holes in the side to climb in) with the others (compartments of 2 or 3 people) and the ascent was slow and calm, not windy. I did wear a thick jumper and jeans but I think you’d be fine in shorts, T-shirt and a thin jumper, especially if you go to the pyramids after. The views were amazing and it was definitely an experience I’d do again. There was just two of us for the rest in our car… Breakfast was ok, the location was nice but I think it may have been more interesting to go to the one in the cave instead. The tasting and talk about the different crystals and stone was interesting and the lady was very engaging but I think it could be skipped. We were driven to the pyramids and we paid our entrance fee of $95 pesos each and then we walked around the site. You can’t walk up the pyramid anymore. It was nice as we got there earlier than others. It’s such an impressive site and there is a small museum there with English labels. I think if the driver also did guide work that would have elevated the experience more, or even if an audio tour was provided. Arrived back at midday. So a perfect half day trip if you have to catch flights or have plans from 2pm onwards (you may need a siesta!). They do offer to drop you off elsewhere.
