The website offered a guided tour with a local. I would not call somebody who moved there 1 year ago a local. Our guide was Francis. He was nice. It was one of his first tours. He read about the city and showed us the most important sightseeing features and knew the key facts. Unfortunately as he just moved there he did not know - or at least show - less known places or facts that are not to be found in a travel guide. On top the website offered tours lasting 2-6 h. Our guide had a good programm for 2h which as he told as was the usually booked duration (or people got lazy decided to drink with him). He improvised and found some more places to see but we felt that he was not prepared for them so it was more like the bare key facts about them. Overall he was a friendly person and it is a much more convenient way than reading a book but we missed the LOCAL guide part in it. Apart from that a two hour tour would have been the correct amount of time for sightseeing and walking

: We were able to discover Bordeaux that we did not know at all via Karen, a local who loves her city and who shares her knowledge of it with volubility and kindness. It's a bit like visiting the city with a friend. He listened to our questions and answered them as best he could. We had a great time with him. He kindly offered us a list of restaurants and museums at the end of the visit. I recommend this type of visit, less stuffy than with a professional guide.
