It is no longer a working deer farm (much to the disappoint of our kids) and you can’t walk around the property and up through the forest (much to the disappointment of my kids). All in all would recommend still. “

From our calm hideaway we easily day tripped to Rotorua’s geothermal hot springs, Waitomo cave, and Hobbiton (be sure to book months ahead).As we sit on blue porch chairs, background sounds include sheep baahing, bird calls, sometimes the wind soughs. The sun sets and the house looks down and over a beautiful valley where the hills glow. “
