Location – Excellent if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing home. West end, with multiple breezy balconies for amazing ocean views of the Brass Islands. Off the beaten path; see more goats and chickens than people as you drive up. Fine with us, but not ideal if you plan to party at night. Do NOT attempt the drive tired/tipsy, but it is well lit. At least 20 min to main restaurants / attractions. You need a car/driver.
Has a dedicated parking space.
Accessibility – From parking , take a long stairway (~15 steps) down to the front door. If you have mobility issues or difficulty carrying bags, be advised. No steps inside. Bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible.
Bedrooms – The master is spacious and very well appointed, with a huge closet and ensuite bathroom. Watch the sun rise from its king sized bed, but it’s worth it to step out on the balcony to see it. A second balcony off the master is more private, with lovely views. The second king bedroom is roomy, has a twin sized cot in the closet. Its balcony has a limited view of the ocean. The third bedroom has a queen sized bed, is modest in size, no balcony. Plenty of extra linens. Saw two inflatable mattress boxes, for a total of 3 beds, 1 cot, and 2 air mattresses. The LR sofa also appeared to be a pullout.
Bathrooms – Both bathrooms are shower only, no tub. The master has a double sink, and a relatively large shower next to a narrow toilet area. The hall bathroom (shared by the two other bedrooms) is small. Ample supply of lotion, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, and soft white towels.
Kitchen – Has pots, pans, cutting board, tableware, glassware, knives, wine opener, drip coffee maker, microwave, etc., and an induction range. Lorna was kind enough to provide a starter ration of groceries (eggs, milk, almond milk, juice, etc.) and there are spices/seasonings, coffee/tea, filters, and some basic pantry supplies. Given the remote location, bring what you need to get through the first night and morning, or order food to hold you until you get groceries. Full sized washer/dryer, with detergent and softener.
Views – The balconies with the best views are relatively small, but have ample room for 2-4 people, up to 6 but close. No issues with bugs. The views are itsbest asset – not oceanfront, but close enough to see the waves break on the rocks. At night, starry skies. Lots of pelicans.
Lorna is a caring/attentive host - got Mom a shower bench, replaced beach umbrella, answered loads of questions.
